Today, on December 26, 2025 (Boxing Day), many global markets are closed. The name originates from England: On December 26, wealthy families used to open the "Christmas boxes" (gift or donation boxes).
The London Stock Exchange (LSE), the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), the Canadian National Stock Exchange, and the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) are closed, as today is a holiday in most Commonwealth countries.
All major exchanges of the Euronext group are also closed today: Amsterdam (AEX), Brussels (BEL), Dublin (ISEQ), Lisbon (PSI), Paris (CAC), Oslo (OSE), and Milan (Borsa Italiana). There is also no trading on the second day of Christmas at Xetra and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in Frankfurt.
In Hong Kong, there is no trading today, while the markets in Japan, China (Shenzhen/Shanghai) are open. Regular trading also took place today at the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) and the Korea Exchange (KRX) in Seoul. In India, Boxing Day is not observed as a stock market holiday: The NSE (National Stock Exchange) and the BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) are open as usual today.
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq are open today.
However, trading volume is expected to remain low at most exchanges that are open today.
