Daily Market Report – January 21, 2026

On Wednesday, January 21, 2026 (11:00 AM ET), the US markets stabilize after the drop the day before – supported by a strong rally in the semiconductor sector. Trump stated that the US would not use force to take Greenland but reaffirmed the claim and sharply criticized European partners. Market participants are relieved, prices are rising – and Trump remains highly unpredictable.

Micron MU: +7%. The market continues to play that high-end memory (HBM/DRAM) for AI data centers is scarce, and prices and thus the profit margins of companies are likely to continue rising. Intel INTC even rises by over 10% ahead of the upcoming quarterly numbers. There is great hope that Intel will succeed in its turnaround due to AI-driven demand for server CPUs. The expectation that the company will be successful with new product lines (Panther Lake/18A) and the restructuring under CEO Lip-Bu Tan is driving prices. AMD AMD also gains over 8%.
