Daily Market Report – February 24, 2026

On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, a sluggish stabilization set in on the major stock markets after a sharp sell-off of IT stocks: The leading indices in the U.S. turned positive. The big themes remain: U.S. tariff uncertainty and the debate over whether new AI tools could devalue entire software and service models.

Advanced Micro Devices NASDAQ:AMD rose by about 9% after a billion-dollar collaboration with Meta impressed the markets. On the losing side was again Novo Nordisk OMXCOP:NOVO_B after poor data for the obesity drug CagriSema yesterday. Home Depot NYSE:HD presented strong quarterly figures today and exceeded profit expectations, leading to a rise in the stock price, even though revenue was slightly down and the outlook remains cautious due to subdued consumer spending. Anthropic announced further expansion for Claude Cowork, which is now also set to be used in HR and investment banking. While software stocks have fallen in the past after Anthropic announced further expansion of its AI, most software values rose today.

In the bond, currency, and commodity markets, the tone remained defensive: The yields on long-term U.S. Treasury bonds TVC:US10Y were firmer, while Gold OANDA:XAUUSD eased after the recent price increase. Brent ICEEUR:BRN1! remained near multi-month highs, supported by tensions ahead of further talks between Washington and Tehran. The market is now waiting for Donald Trump's address this evening and the results from Nvidia NASDAQ:NVDA on Wednesday.
