Daily Market Report – July 6, 2026

📈 Markets

* The stock markets start the week positively. The S&P 500 (SPX) (+0.7%) and especially the Nasdaq (+1.3%) are supported by a recovery in AI and semiconductor stocks. The Dow Jones is trading almost unchanged. European stocks remain well supported. Falling oil prices and the expectation of a robust earnings season support the sentiment. * Brent falls below 72 US dollars after the production expansion of OPEC+ and a relaxation of the supply situation across the Strait of Hormuz reduce supply fears. * Gold slightly declines, while the US dollar tends to be somewhat stronger against the yen and euro.

🏢 Companies & Earnings Season

* Attention is turning to the start of the US earnings season. This week, among others, PepsiCo, Delta Air Lines, and Levi Strauss & Co. will report. * Broadcom (AVGO) benefits from the extension of an important supply agreement with Apple. Semiconductor stocks lead the market. * Microsoft announces worldwide layoffs of around 4,800 positions and continues the restructuring with a stronger focus on AI.

🌍 Macroeconomics

* Today, the US Services PMI (S&P Global) and the ISM Services Index for June will be released. They are considered important indicators of the strength of the US economy. * In the further course of the week, the focus is particularly on the minutes of the last Fed meeting as well as the official start of the US earnings season. * The combination of declining oil prices and stable economic conditions is currently creating a constructive market sentiment. However, investors are closely watching whether corporate earnings can justify the high valuations of AI stocks.
