Daily Market Report – August 11, 2026
Markets The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz weighed on the S&P 500 (SPX), which lost 0.32 percent to 7,728 points. The Nasdaq 100 (NDX) fell 0.33 percent to 29,525 points. The Dow Jones (DJI) closed 0.34 percent lower at 53,792 points. In Frankfurt, the DAX (DAX) gained 0.26 percent to 26,391 points. The Nikkei 225 (NI225), on the other hand, rose by 2.08 percent to 66,970 points. Given the tensions in the Gulf of Oman, WTI crude oil (CL1!) increased by 1.53 percent to $83.39. Company Nvidia (NVDA) moved into the spotlight with financing commitments for the expansion of data centers. Reports of a potential securing of a major project eased concerns in the credit market. CoreWeave (CRWV) benefited from a surge in revenue due to the increasing demand for AI computing power. Super Micro Computer (SMCI) presented a revenue forecast above market expectations, thereby highlighting the demand for AI servers. Oracle (ORCL) came under pressure as high spending on AI infrastructure once again raised doubts about the return on investment.
Intel (INTC) raised $20 billion with an increased capital increase, thereby exceeding the initially targeted volume. TSMC (TSM) is reportedly planning a chip factory for image sensors in Japan in collaboration with Sony (SONY). AppLovin (APP) lost 5.99 percent to $318.68.
Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) placed bonds to finance the announced acquisition of MarketAxess (MKTX). This moved the transaction from the announcement to the financing phase. Mastercard (MA) reportedly approached a settlement of the long-standing British consumer rights dispute.

General Motors (GM) reportedly agreed to a parts supply contract to secure its supply chains. SpaceX (SPCX) cited a doubled customer base in its satellite internet business. However, high connection costs limit the expansion into the mass market.
Macroeconomics According to the BLS, the consumer price index for July will be released on Wednesday. The data will form the next central basis for assessing American inflationary pressure.
