Inflation and interest rate fears pressured the S&P 500 (SPX) down by 0.57 percent to 7,642 points. The Nasdaq 100 (NDX) lost 1.10 percent to 29,133 points, while the Dow Jones (DJI) closed 0.59 percent lower at 52,870 points. In Europe, the DAX (DAX) dropped 2.26 percent to 25,970 points. The escalation between the United States and Iran, as well as attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, drove Brent crude oil (UKOIL) up by 2.63 percent to $92.87. Gold (GOLD), on the other hand, fell by 1.51 percent to $4,414.

SoftBank (9984) came into focus with the stock market application of its energy subsidiary SB Energy. According to the documents, its business significantly depends on OpenAI. Shein was in the spotlight due to its stock market debut in Hong Kong. At Apple (AAPL), John Ternus took over the chairmanship from Tim Cook. NVIDIA (NVDA) continued its investments in the ecosystem for AI semiconductors with a stake in MediaTek.
UBS (UBSG) came under regulatory pressure in a dispute over the planned Swiss capital requirements. Goldman Sachs (GS) demanded lower fees from law firms because artificial intelligence accelerates routine tasks. Morgan Stanley (MS) linked the same demand with the goal of passing productivity gains of legal advisors on to clients. Citigroup (C) joined the push for lower attorney bills.
Volkswagen (VOW3) is reportedly considering, as part of its restructuring, to cease production at four German plants. Toyota (7203) experienced demand for the hybrid RAV4 that exceeded the available dealer inventory. GoPro (GPRO) benefited from the announced cash acquisition valued at 285 million dollars.
Novartis (NOVN) gained 5.95 percent to $161.11 after a study success with a drug for multiple sclerosis. ASML (ASML) came into focus after an analysis assessed China's chances of a competitive alternative to the most advanced EUV technology within the next decade as low. Rheinmetall (RHM) is reportedly applying for a tank project in the United States.
