Daily Market Report – September 15, 2026

Markets

Inflation concerns due to higher oil prices weighed on the S&P 500 (SPX). It closed 0.48 percent lower at 7,620 points. The Nasdaq 100 (NDX) lost 0.82 percent to 29,127 points. In Europe, the Euro Stoxx 50 (SX5E) fell by 1.02 percent to 6,260 points. The Volatility Index VIX (VIX) rose by 7.95 percent to 17 points. Following attacks on Saudi Arabia and ships in the Gulf, WTI crude oil (USOIL) increased by 1.34 percent to $102.75. Brent crude oil (UKOIL) gained 1.18 percent to $106.93.

Company

The debate over a slowdown in AI development weighed on Lam Research (LRCX); the stock lost 8.29 percent. In European trading, ASML (ASML) fell by 7.25 percent. Applied Materials (AMAT) declined by 7.07 percent. KLA (KLAC) lost 6.39 percent, Intel (INTC) 5.59 percent, and Micron Technology (MU) 5.25 percent.

ServiceNow (NOW) gained 7.41 percent. Accenture (ACN) increased by 6.04 percent, SAP (SAP) by 5.78 percent, and Intuit (INTU) by 5.47 percent.

BYD (1211) is preparing for the market launch of its electric truck in Europe for the coming year. Subsequently, manufacturing in the region is set to follow. BMW (BMW) reported 100,000 European orders for the iX3. Volkswagen (VOW3) advanced cost reduction with its efficiency program and a new drive concept.

GE Vernova (GEV) fell by 8.62 percent. Amphenol (APH) lost 6.40 percent. Bank of America (BAC) declined by 5.14 percent.

Macroeconomics

The meeting of the Fed starting on September 15 became the focus due to increased interest rate hike expectations and inflationary pressure caused by oil prices. According to the White House, the US government rejected additional guidelines for artificial intelligence, thereby intensifying the regulatory debate.
