Markets
The prospect of further tightening of American monetary policy weighed on the S&P 500 (SPX) by 0.45 percent to 7,586 points. The Nasdaq 100 (NDX) fell by 0.65 percent to 28,938 points. The Dow Jones (DJI) closed 0.63 percent lower at 52,093 points, while the Euro Stoxx 50 (SX5E) lost 0.38 percent to 6,237 points. The yield on ten-year American government bonds (US10Y) rose by 3.5 basis points to 5.00 percent. WTI crude oil (CL1!) decreased by 1.12 percent to $104.64 per barrel, after higher American stockpiles outweighed concerns about potential supply disruptions.

Nvidia (NVDA) opposed a coordinated slowdown of AI development and distanced itself from the security demands of other industry representatives. Meta Platforms (META) advocated for independent auditors and consultants to oversee AI models instead of a development moratorium. Alibaba (BABA) did not comment on the warnings from the United States regarding AI risks. Tencent (0700) also refrained from public statements in this debate.
SK Hynix (000660) agreed with the union to pay half of the profit-sharing in cash. This defused a conflict that could have impacted production. Samsung Electronics (005930) is expanding direct access to skilled workers for the semiconductor business with jointly developed training programs. The BoJ was facing an interest rate decision. Market observers expected a hike of 25 basis points.
