Markets

The S&P 500 (SPX) is trading 0.12 percent lower at 7,629 points. The Nasdaq 100 (NDX), on the other hand, rose by 0.10 percent to 29,476 points. The DAX (DAX) lost 0.92 percent to 25,304 points. Following the interest rate decision in Japan, the Nikkei 225 (NI225) gained 1.38 percent to 65,019 points. The yield on ten-year US Treasury bonds (US10Y) increased by 5.29 basis points to 5.00 percent. Brent crude oil (UKOIL) decreased by 0.83 percent to 99.10 dollars per barrel.

Company

Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B) is making a change at the top of its board of directors: Warren Buffett will become honorary chairman, and Howard Buffett will take over the chairmanship. Volkswagen (VOW3) lowered its profit forecast. The decisive factors were the decline in sales in China as well as burdens from the stake in Porsche and from the restructuring. Porsche (P911) is burdening the parent company with weaker business in China and the associated write-downs.

Nestlé (NESN) came under pressure after local authorities took control of the business in Russia. Nike (NKE) lost Kylian Mbappé as a marketing partner to the Swiss competitor On. On (ONON) is focusing on a long-term, global brand partnership with the signing of the footballer.

Microsoft (MSFT) pointed to growing risks of advanced systems following a new development at OpenAI. Amazon (AMZN) came under scrutiny from the EU competition authority due to potential restrictions on merchants' pricing. Walt Disney (DIS) created the position of Chief Technology Officer for the first time and appointed Karandeep Anand, who specializes in artificial intelligence. SoftBank (9984) increased its funding for investments in artificial intelligence with new financing.

SK Hynix (000660) gained 6.42 percent to 1,857,000 won. Qualcomm (QCOM) lost 5.44 percent to 178.44 dollars.

Macroeconomics

The BoJ raised Japanese interest rates to the highest level since 1995. At the same time, possible measures against excessive exchange rate movements came into focus.
