Daily Market Report – September 29, 2026

Markets

The S&P 500 (SPX) closed 0.17 percent lower at 7,671 points, while the Nasdaq 100 (NDX) rose 0.21 percent to 30,339 points. The Euro Stoxx 50 (SX5E) gained 0.30 percent to 6,320 points. In Asia, the Shanghai Composite (000001) fell 1.49 percent to 3,830 points. WTI crude oil (CL1!) decreased by 3.95 percent to $88.94 per barrel. Gold (GOLD) increased by 1.12 percent to $4,215 per ounce.

Company

Nvidia (NVDA) moved into the spotlight with its stock buyback and the participation of the company's management in discussions at the White House regarding a commitment from the AI industry. Meta Platforms (META) came under scrutiny as a competitor to OpenAI's new personal AI assistant.

Paramount Skydance (PSKY) reportedly recorded high demand for financing the planned acquisition of Warner Bros. Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) thus remained tied to the extensive financing package for the transaction.

Julius Bär (BAER) surged significantly after the Swiss financial market regulator concluded its supervisory proceedings. The authority had identified deficiencies in risk management. Commerzbank (CBK) occupied investors with succession planning at the corporate top.

Starbucks (SBUX) reported declining sales in China due to high fuel prices.

Boeing (BA) remained in focus due to another delay of the 737 Max 10. Airbus (AIR) came into the spotlight with the plans of the Bundeswehr to purchase 16 additional A400M. Applied Materials (AMAT) rose by 5.19 percent to $512.01.

Macroeconomics

According to the White House, the US government is relying on self-regulation rather than new federal safety laws regarding the risks of artificial intelligence after discussions with industry representatives. This shapes the regulatory framework for technology investments. According to the ECB, France's public finances remain a risk for the Eurozone and thus a factor for monetary policy transmission.
