Daily Market Report – February 10, 2026

In Japan, the stock market continued its upward movement following the parliamentary election: The election outcome is interpreted in the market as a mandate for a more expansive fiscal policy under Sanae Takaichi. This strengthened the risk appetite for Japanese stocks, while the yen trended stronger – an indication that investors are re-pricing the monetary and fiscal implications.

In the IT sector, two topics dominated the discussion: Alphabet NASDAQ:GOOGL delved deeply into the bond market for planned data center and infrastructure programs – even extending to very long maturities that have become rare in normal interest rate regimes. Additionally, market participants continue to discuss whether new AI tools from Anthropic will replace information providers. At S&P Global NYSE:SPGI, revenue and earnings in the fourth quarter were close to expectations, but the 2026 guidance for adjusted EPS fell below consensus – simultaneously fueling the debate on how much AI could pressure the pricing power of traditional data and analytics providers. The stock subsequently dropped by around eight percent, dragging comparable information service providers down temporarily.

Also under observation: The Coca-Cola Company NYSE:KO delivered a mixed quarter – earnings per share above expectations, revenue slightly below – and projected 4-5% organic growth for 2026. The outlook appeared more defensive than hoped after a strong run; the stock initially declined more significantly and was trading about two percent down.

On the winning side was Datadog NASDAQ:DDOG: Fueled by AI-driven demand for observability and security tools, the company surpassed estimates with $953 million in revenue (+29%) and $0.59 in adjusted EPS; despite a rather cautious framework for the full year, the market reacted positively to the quarterly "beat" and the solid short-term revenue visibility. The stock jumped by about 15-16%.

AstraZeneca NASDAQ:AZN, on the other hand, impressed with a robust year 2025 (revenue +8%) and reaffirmed mid to high single-digit revenue growth as well as low double-digit EPS growth for 2026 – driven by oncology and a broad launch pipeline. The stock reacted positively to slightly firmer, as the outlook was viewed as remarkably stable in a politically and regulatory sensitive environment.
