The international stock markets recorded one of the strongest daily movements in recent weeks on Wednesday. The combination of strong AI corporate earnings and hopes for a diplomatic solution in the conflict with Iran boosted the markets today. The price of Brent crude oil fell by about 7.5% to just over $100 per barrel after U.S. President Donald Trump signaled possible talks with Iran.

The focus of the earnings season today was on large technology and AI companies. Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) jumped nearly 19% to a record high following quarterly results. The company benefited from strong demand for AI chips for data centers. The entire semiconductor sector then surged: Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) gained 4.5% according to Reuters, Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) rose significantly, and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index increased by about 4.5%. Super Micro Computer (NASDAQ:SMCI) rose by 24%. At the same time, Samsung Electronics reached a market capitalization of over one trillion U.S. dollars for the first time.

Exceptional price movements also occurred outside the technology sector. Walt Disney (NYSE:DIS) rose by about 7.5% after its earnings report. Uber Technologies (NYSE:UBER) gained around 8.5%. The global stock index MSCI All Country World Index also reached a record high.

The U.S. dollar fell against most major currencies, while the yield on 10-year U.S. Treasury bonds decreased to about 4.35%. Gold, on the other hand, benefited from the dollar's weakness and temporarily rose to a multi-week high.

Significant attention was also paid today to U.S. labor market data. ADP released the official ADP National Employment Report today. According to the report, 109,000 new jobs were created in the private sector in April, following 62,000 jobs in March. This is the strongest job growth in 15 months. The report is jointly prepared by the ADP Research Institute and the Stanford Digital Economy Lab. Employment growth was particularly strong in the education and health sectors. The data is considered an important leading indicator for the official U.S. labor market report from the U.S. government on Friday.
