Daily Market Report – July 24, 2026

Markets The S&P 500 (SPX) closed almost unchanged at 7,403 points, losing 0.07 percent. New doubts about high AI investments pushed the Nasdaq 100 (NDX) down by 1.27 percent to 28,093 points. In contrast, the Dow Jones (DJI) rose by 0.41 percent to 51,925 points. The DAX (DAX) gained 1.36 percent to 25,099 points. In the wake of the sell-off of Asian semiconductor stocks, the Nikkei 225 (NI225) fell by 2.73 percent to 64,611 points. Brent crude oil (UKOIL) decreased by 3.58 percent to $97.09 per barrel despite the attacks on key shipping routes, following reports of new diplomatic efforts in the conflict with Iran. Company SAP (SAP) rose by 9.75 percent after the financial results and the limitation of certain AI costs. ServiceNow (NOW) gained 7.34 percent after reports of a short position against the stock drew attention to the title. Accenture (ACN) increased by 6.03 percent.

SK Hynix (000660) lost 8.34 percent despite reports of large supply agreements with American technology companies. In the same industry environment, Samsung Electronics (005930) fell by 7.59 percent. New concerns about financing high AI investments pushed Micron Technology (MU) down by 7.81 percent. Intel (INTC) lost 7.56 percent despite positively received business figures. Applied Materials (AMAT) decreased by 5.24 percent, and Lam Research (LRCX) fell by 5.19 percent.

Volkswagen (VOW3) warned of weaker revenues and plans to decide on the corporate restructuring by the end of this year. Commerzbank (CBK) came into focus after the chairman of the supervisory board demanded talks with UniCredit regarding the takeover conflict. SpaceX (SPCX) came under pressure following the weak stock market debut and an analyst assessment of the valuation of the AI business.

Verizon (VZ) gained 5.17 percent after unexpectedly high revenues in the mobile and internet business as well as an raised annual forecast. Uber (UBER) was burdened by reports that the robotaxi partner Waymo is considering a separation.

Macroeconomics According to the White House, the US government threatened the European Union with new tariffs due to the fine against Google and simultaneously extended the general tariff base of 10 percent. The ECB raised its inflation forecast for 2027. ---
