Daily Market Report – September 12, 2026

Markets

The S&P 500 (SPX) closed 0.86 percent higher at 7,657 points. The Nasdaq 100 (NDX) gained 0.91 percent to 29,368 points. The Dow Jones (DJI) rose by 0.98 percent to 52,573 points. In Frankfurt, the DAX (DAX) increased by 0.82 percent to 25,569 points, while the Nikkei 225 (NI225) lost 1.93 percent to 64,011 points. Brent crude oil (UKOIL) decreased by 2.81 percent to $104.61 per barrel despite the risks to supply routes in the Persian Gulf.

Company

Nvidia (NVDA) is reportedly considering participating in the IPO of Anthropic with up to 10 billion dollars. The potential move to the capital market is linked to the demand of the AI developer for graphics processors.

Oracle (ORCL) came into focus after founder Larry Ellison announced the sale of up to 50 million shares worth up to 7.5 billion dollars. At the same time, the data center business and the high commitments for AI infrastructure were in focus.

Hapag-Lloyd (HLAG) is reportedly continuing discussions about an acquisition of ZIM despite resistance from Israel. The potential volume is estimated at around 3.6 billion euros. The acquisition of ZIM Integrated Shipping Services (ZIM) depends on further discussions and regulatory issues.

VinFast (VFS) transferred the position of global CEO from founder Pham Nhat Vuong to his son Pham Nhat Quan Anh. Meanwhile, the electric vehicle manufacturer continues its expansion. BYD (1211) was in focus after the US President suggested a permit for Chinese manufacturers to produce in the United States with American employees. The import ban, however, is set to remain in place.

BioNTech (BNTX) came into focus due to statements from its co-founder Thomas Strüngmann regarding the further development of the company and declining prices for obesity medications. St. James’s Place (STJ) is reviewing its growth plans following departures and aims to strengthen the retention of its financial advisors.

Macroeconomics

A leading monetary policy maker of the ECB warned that persistently high oil prices could necessitate further interest rate hikes due to the increased inflation risk. According to the White House, President Donald Trump expressed openness to the manufacturing of Chinese electric cars in the United States with American employees. However, he maintained his stance on the exclusion of imported vehicles. At the BRICS summit in New Delhi, the Iran war, western tariffs and sanctions, as well as a stronger cross-border linkage of state-supported payment systems were the focus.
