Daily Market Report – September 17, 2026

Markets

After the interest rate hike by the Fed and the decline in oil prices, the S&P 500 (SPX) closed 1.18 percent higher at 7,641 points. The Nasdaq 100 (NDX) gained 1.71 percent to 29,440 points, while the Dow Jones (DJI) rose by 0.74 percent to 51,842 points. In Frankfurt, the DAX (DAX) increased by 1.24 percent to 25,717 points. The yield on ten-year US Treasury bonds (US10Y) fell by 5.7 basis points to 4.95 percent. Brent crude oil (UKOIL) decreased by 1.12 percent to $104.64 per barrel.

Company

Nvidia (NVDA) moved into the spotlight with the forecast of selling twice as many chips next year. In the wake of strong chip demand, Intel (INTC) gained 9.33 percent to 110.48 dollars. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) rose by 6.27 percent to 544.65 dollars. The demand for memory chips caused Micron Technology (MU) to increase by 5.38 percent to 976.37 dollars.

TSMC (TSM) and other semiconductor manufacturers pointed to the shortage of skilled labor in American chip manufacturing. Palantir (PLTR) came into focus after the CEO called for appropriate regulations for artificial intelligence. Reports suggest that SpaceX (SPCX) is considering acquiring customer and operational data from failed startups to train AI models.

Nestlé (NESN) was burdened by a Russian decree that places the company's assets there under provisional state administration. Deutsche Bank (DBK) was in focus after a court criticized the internal controls in the embezzlement trial against a former employee.

Boeing (BA) received a new order as Lufthansa exercised a purchase option for 20 aircraft of the type 737 Max 10. Volkswagen (VOW3) came into focus due to the postponement of the electric Audi A4 and the associated corporate platform. BMW (BMW) faced Volvo's plan to expand its position in the electric premium segment with over 13 new models.

Macroeconomics

The Fed raised the key interest rate and reaffirmed its stance against inflation. The move shaped expectations for further monetary tightening. According to the BoE, the British key interest rate remained unchanged despite the American interest rate increase. The revised inflation rate in the Eurozone was 3.2 percent, according to Eurostat.
