Daily Market Report – September 27, 2026
Markets
The S&P 500 (SPX) closed 0.51 percent higher at 7,743 points. The Nasdaq 100 (NDX) gained 0.42 percent to 30,608 points. The Dow Jones (DJI) rose by 0.93 percent to 51,829 points, while the DAX (DAX) closed 0.56 percent higher at 25,409 points. In Asia, the Nikkei 225 (NI225) increased by 1.30 percent to 66,364 points. In light of the negotiations regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, Brent crude oil (UKOIL) decreased by 2.77 percent to $97.44 per barrel.
Company
Meta Platforms (META) is advancing the development of its own hardware with an AI keychain. The device is intended to offload applications from smartphones and broaden access to its own AI services. Amazon (AMZN) is investing three billion dollars in faster deliveries, thereby intensifying the competition for delivery and customer loyalty. Microsoft (MSFT) and other capital-intensive AI providers are facing increased investment pressure due to rising financing costs for data centers.
LVMH (MC) is to initiate talks regarding the acquisition of a stake in Armani. This marks the beginning of the restructuring of the fashion house as envisioned by the late founder. L’Oréal (OR) is also among the intended discussion partners for the stake sale. In addition to the two French companies, EssilorLuxottica (EL) is to be included in the negotiations.
BASF (BAS) is mentioned as a potential bidder for a takeover of Evonik. This brings Evonik (EVK) to the center of the consolidation debate in the European chemical industry.
Wüstenrot & Württembergische (WUW) voluntarily leaves the S-Dax, thereby reducing the significance of the stock listing for its own capital market access. Anglo American (AAL) focuses on a clearer distinction between natural diamonds and lab-created stones at De Beers to stabilize demand. Absa (ABG) pointed to the risk of declining crop yields and rising food prices due to El Niño in southern Africa.
Macroeconomics
According to the White House, both the discussions between the United States and China regarding trade issues and the confrontation with Iran over the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz ended without a conclusive agreement. Due to inflation and interest rate risks, the upcoming labor market report from the BLS is particularly significant for the assessment of American monetary policy. According to the Fed, the next interest rate decision is scheduled for October. The labor market data will serve as a central basis for this decision.
